Importing an Estimate or Budget

You can import financial data to your projects on the Estimate tab of the Financials page.

To do this, click the "Import" button at the top of your estimate and follow the instructions in the prompt:

  1. Download the CSV template to use when importing your information.
  2. Add your data to the CSV and save the file.
  3. Upload the completed template in CoConstruct and click to "Import".

The following estimate information will be captured with your import:

  • Item Description (Required)
  • Quantity
  • Units
  • Unit Cost
Use "Number" or "General" formatting when entering unit costs. If you format these to include currency symbols ($, £, etc.), the import process won't be able to properly read the numbers.
  • Cost Type
  • Accounting Code (Required)
This is the "code" only, not including the description of the code. This will be listed in the first column of your Accounting Codes tab, which you can find from the Main Menu > Settings > Accounting Integration.
  • Notes

When you finish importing, your financials will be visible in the "Other Cost Lines" section at the top of your estimate, as well as on the "Budget" tab, organized by accounting code.

On the budget, your imported amounts will show up in the Original Budget and Revised Budget columns. Since these items are not linked to selections, the Original Budget will always match the Revised Budget for any data that you import.

Exporting your Project Estimate

Export an Estimate to Excel

You can download a copy of your Estimate details with the "Export" button at the bottom of the Estimate tab of the Financials page.

This will download your estimate as a spreadsheet in .xlsx format, including any cost lines that are associated with selections, as well as Other Cost Lines that are not linked with your Selection Sheet.

A note on Mac compatibility: This .xlsx file is completely compatible with Microsoft Excel, regardless of whether you are using a Windows or Apple device. However, you may encounter compatibility issues if you attempt to open this file within Apple's Numbers application.

Export an Estimate to QuickBooks

If you've connected your project with QuickBooks, you can take advantage of our accounting integration to export this estimate directly to your accounting system and avoid any double entry.

Exporting your Budget

You can download a copy of the details you see on the Budget with the "Export" button at the bottom of the Budget tab of the Financials page.

This will download your project's budget as a spreadsheet in .xlsx format.

A note on Mac compatibility: This .xlsx file is completely compatible with Microsoft Excel, regardless of whether you are using a Windows or Apple device. However, you may encounter compatibility issues if you attempt to open this file within Apple's Numbers application.
