Passing Fees to Clients

Passing Fees to Clients

Kevin Fitzpatrick

As you look to accept payments from clients via CoConstruct, keep in mind any local or state laws dictating how transaction fees should be handled.  Some US states and local municipalities prohibit fees charged to consumers who use credit cards (surcharge).

The following US states MAY prohibit surcharges:

  • Colorado
  • Connecticut
  • Florida
  • Kansas
  • Maine
  • Massachusetts
  • Oklahoma

Stay informed about state and local laws.

When setting up to receive client payments, you'll have the option to pay any credit card or ACH fees rather than passing them onto your clients.  Set this up for your account, per project, or per invoice as desired.

Except where prohibited, most builders choose to offer ACH you pay and credit cards the client pays.
